How to Enjoy Miami on a Budget - Day 3

Italian in Miami? Yes please! Italian Trattorias and scream it with me, GELATO!

Hey, y’all! I’m just back from a second trip to Miami, almost a year apart. If you’re finding this article, I highly recommend you read How to Enjoy Miami on a Budget blog, Day 1 and Day 2 first to get a solid overview.

We tend to pack some healthy snacks, water and protein bars to fill in for breakfast or random hungry moments (you know the ones, where you don’t feel like leaving your hotel room to get something).
Day 3 overview:

•  Lunch at Raising Canes

•  Delicious treat at I Scream Gelato

•  Dinner at Rosinella Italian Trattoria

•  Long walk after dinner taking in the sights on Lincoln Drive & Ocean Drive

OK, let’s dive in!

Raising Canes

I joined hubby at the conference, and we headed over to Raising Canes to grab lunch when we were done. Our youngest son originally told us about Raising Canes a few years back after a baseball trip. We don’t have any in our area, so it was kind of a “unicorn fast food”, “with the best sauce” to him.

We eventually got to try one and will usually visit one if they are in an area we are travelling to. I’m typically not a fast-food person at all, so this is a win for the boys. I do love that Raising Cane’s mascots are right up my alley-the owners yellow lab and Elvis. I mean, how can you go wrong with that?

Hubby got the 4-piece chicken tender meal, and I got the 3-piece tender meal. The cost was just under $30. It is located at 1651 Washington Avenue.

I Scream Gelato

I confess, I L.O.V.E. gelato. And can I just say that I have never seen SO many gelato shops in such a concentrated area as I did in Miami Beach? Not that I am complaining, but I had already been warned that the prices were about double what we pay at home. Ouch.

After passing so many different ones and peeking in to look at prices and the flavors (my personal fave is Stracciatella), I could not pass us I Scream Gelato.

It is lovely. What is not to love about beautiful décor, a great color palette, and super friendly service? Bonus-we enjoyed great conversation with new friends from NJ that are at the same conference.
I had 2 scoops, hubby had 1 and it was just under $20. It is located at 211 Lincoln Road.

Dinner at Rosinella Italian Trattoria

Several hours later, we met up with a close friend and walked to dinner. It was a recommendation from other friends (who were actually still there eating, so we got to visit). Dinner was fantastic-I had seafood risotto and the others had the highly recommended mushroom ravioli. The 3 meals, ginger ale and 2 glasses of red wine totaled $140.
It is located at 525 Lincoln Road.

Walk After Dinner

We took a few pics on Lincoln Road-it’s a very popular area for locals and visitors alike. After that, we made our way over to Ocean Drive so we could get pics after dark (it was still light on our first walk). Even on a Wednesday night, let me say that Ocean Drive was bustling and full of activity.

The roller bladers were out in full force-you could almost call it a parade at times. It was fun to watch as they mingled in and out with the people leisurely riding their bikes and others on electric scooters. There is so much to take in and see!

Y’all, it is still HOT and HUMID in August down in Miami!
