About MO
Hi future friends who love travel of all kinds! I’m MO!
Wife, mom, daughter, sister, family member, friend, project manager, planner and lover of travel, food, music, reading, flowers and art.
HOW IT ALL BEGAN:
I started reading early on and developed a great imagination for all that is out there in the big world. My Grandma Betty was also an avid reader and an accomplished traveler. I can distinctly remember school getting out for summer, heading out to the local B. Dalton Bookstore to load up as many books as possible and drive to the lake house. We would take turns reading, fishing, cooking and talking about whatever for weeks on end.
When I was 13, she took me to North Carolina so I could experience snow prior to taking me on my first trip to Europe. Fast forward a few months, and next thing you know I am visiting Germany, Austria and Italy. That trip lit a love of travel that has ebbed and flowed over the years (considering responsibilities and finances).
Since then, I have been surrounded by friends and colleagues who are great adventurers of varying degrees. I love to take down notes and/or tips from them and have found great success doing so. This eventually led to me mapping out my own trips in a more intentional way and sharing them on my personal Facebook page. Several years passed, then I was asked to do a travel-based social media page. At the time, I was like, “Ummmmmm, no.” Well, life happened, and I could see changes coming in my professional life, so I decided to take the challenge. The one consistent thing that has always stuck with me was advice from a good friend on one of our many “walk and talks”:
“Treat your travel Instagram like a bank account. Just keep showing up and making a deposit and it will eventually grow.”
So, hittheroadwithmo was born…
I’ve been showing up for 2 years now and have learned more than I ever expected to. I’ve grown in ways that I did not anticipate on a personal level.
Now, I am so excited that this is growing with my great friend and many time travel partner, Joy! We are combining our experience from our podcast Real Talk for Today’s Job Seekers and have accepted the personal challenge to reinvent ourselves in a new way!
Favorite trips: Utah. Ireland. Girl's Trip to California (houseboats of Sausalito, Jelly Belly Tour, Charles M. Schulz Museum)
Cheers to new adventures!
About Joy
Hiya! I'm Joy and I, too, enjoy travel. There is just something about getting out there, seeing new things, smelling new smells, seeing different places and faces that resets your normal in a way you don't quite know how to describe. It's the small change of perspective after seeing the way someone in a different place reacts to a situation. It's the late lingering meal you'd never get away with at home because they want to turn the tables. It's being away from the daily chaos of your life to take time to breathe, look at and appreciate nature and remind yourself what it's like to live slow.
Someone asked me before a trip to Italy what I was looking forward to the most, (the pizza of course, but) I said I don't know. I wasn't blowing off the question, but I truly DON'T know. Being in the place, seeing the things, yes; but my love of travel is in the experiencing of a culture in a way you can't understand unless you're there, and you can't really explain with mere words to someone else that hasn't been in a way they would understand. You just never know what you're going to gain ;)
Favorite trips: Valletta, Malta. Panama City Beach. Ireland. Wapwallopen, PA.
