10-Day Alaskan Cruise - Overview

It was the year of yes when I first decided it was a good idea to take not one, but 2 10-day cruises. Both were booked through NCL (Norwegian Cruise Line). After my first cruise I was quite cruise fatigued, so I wasn't quite ready to hop back on a boat a month later. But, with a much easier flight, easier layover, and cooler weather the cruise to Alaska started off well.

The cruise was at the end of September when we boarded the Norwegian Joy and went to the following ports:

  • Seattle, Washington (began and ended)
  • Juneau, Alaska
  • Skagway, Alaska
  • Glacier Bay National Park (cruising)
  • Icy Straight Point, Alaska
  • Sitka, Alaska
  • Ketchikan (Ward Cove), Weather was bad, couldn't get into port
  • Victoria, British Columbia
  • With 2 3 days at sea


I do want say I've been very pleased with NCL on the whole. The boats are nice, the staff is very well trained, friendly, and go above and beyond for their guests. If I had one complaint, it would be the bathroom situation on the Norwegian Epic. I'll write more about that in a future blog, but suffice it to say that the ship was built with a European market in mind!
