Oh Canada! Spending the day in lovely Victoria looking at flowers (and the ones that like to eat the flowers!)

We got off the boat around 10 and walked a couple of kilometers into town. The trees and flowers were happy and blooming. The sun was out a bit and the weather was just really nice (no rain!). It was neat to see the homes, the architecture, the foliage by foot. I think you see and experience things in such a different way by foot.

As we neared town, there was some sort of police activity. As we got closer and a better view, there were ladder trucks out lifting to display huge flags, and all these different officers and military in various uniforms, so we knew it was some type of Memorial. It was a somber mood. Later we found it was their 2025 BC Law Enforcement Memorial, held in Victoria at the site of the Bastion on the grounds of the BC Legislature. This year they honored 135 Law Enforcement Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving the citizens of British Columbia. Thankfully, there were no present-day additions to the Roll of Honour this year, but they did add 2 historic additions from the British Columbia Forest Service from 1925 and 1955 respectively.

After taking a moment of respect, we moved on into the town which was quaint. It was filled with beautiful floral displays.
